Stick your tongue out, Brooke

This prolonged winter is making my coats lose their cool factor in my eyes. I can't wait to put them away. Even the puffy-crazy-leo one. Yeah, you. How incredibly lovely was thirteen-year-old Brooke Shields? Ahhh youth.

Happy friday.

¡Feliz viernes!

The Fifth

I honestly have nothing to say. It's been a long, strange, rough week. So I'm taking the fifth today.

Truly Outrageous

♫ Truly outrageous
   That's a Jem girl
   Glamour, fashion and fame ♫

Jem. Jem is excitement, glamour and glitter... If you're a child from the 80s and you were half as cheesy as me, you probably remember and loved these cartoons. I was six when the mania started, by seven I had reached my peak. My mother still has nightmares with the theme song. I wanted nothing more than to be Jem. Let's sum it up for those of you who didn't know it: A girl inherits from her father the rights to a music company, along with a pimped-up Rolls and a machine that made holograms. She then decides to create an all-girl pop band under the name Jem, a pink-dressed disguise for herself. Need I say more? Oh, and that the hologram machine (Synergy) was controlled by a pair of pink, dazzling star-shaped earrings. It is very likely that this fact made me understand the importance of accessorizing in the first place.

I was hooked. I mean, it had it all: Jem and her "holograms" would dress in fancy 80s fashion (with her being pink all the time), they would sing really cheesy songs and travel around the world. Who didn't want to be that? It was also my first relationship awareness: The girl who played Jem (Jerrica) had a boyfriend who was in love with Jem the minute he saw her. So basically he was cheating on her with her holographic self. It made me sick and I didn't stand it, thus understanding at a young age that men are pigs and women are stupid. Ok, being that it has NOTHING to do with the outfit post - I was just nostalgic, watching old episodes and wanted to share - I will stop rambling. My look needs no explanation: boyfriend jeans and a big coat and scarf. Comfort at all levels. Including my socks: forgive me, laundry day.

Paint it black and peel it off

This time of year I wear more layers than an onion. The obvious ones, but also a few more that only I know. I'd rather go looking chubbier than be freezing. Oh, well. When in doubt, black. I don't have a lot of time, which sucks since I can't elaborate on any silly story. Boo. Happy Friday!

Bu. ¡Feliz viernes!

Preview: Paint it black

A small preview of tomorrow's outfit! I like tights with little details, they can make all the difference.

The Domino Effect

First off, I'm sorry for the slow updating. I won't make up some lame excuse, just life as we know it. I haven't been able to show you a lot of the new autumn wardrobe, especially these Zara boots. Yes, the boots. If you browse other blogs you will know that a lot of fellow bloggers either have them or want them. I was lucky enough to get them a while ago and wasn't sure I was going to keep them since they are PU and seemed a little steep. However they turned out to be comfy so I changed my mind.

The madness and hunt /capture over these boots reminds me ever so much of my theory The Shopping Domino Effect. And what, might you ask, is this? Well, it starts with the basis that we, women, are envious and jealous by nature and have the need to not be upstaged or "outstyled" by fellow girlfriends. Before anyone starts to complain that I'm being anti-feminist or mean, seriously, think deep and hard, and you probable will agree. Scenario: You're shopping, you have a garment that you're not sure of and decide to put it back. Two seconds later, another girl comes and picks it up. I will bet my future Xabi Alonso fling that you get a sting and you want it back. And it goes the other way around: you make the mistake - and yes girls, it's a mistake - of trying something on where people can see you. All of a sudden you get stares, a few of them looking around to find that particular item, some even watching your every move. Ladies, do not feel embarrassed or bad if you can relate. We all can. You can be both victim and instigator. For instance, I was a victim of the Effect with these boots. I made the rookie mistake of wearing them right in the middle of a crowded Zara . The inquisition started right away. And it has also happened before with dozens of other stuff. I myself also look around with hunting instinct and, won't lie, snoop around too much. It's in our nature, girls.

So, to avoid getting the bad end of this scientific fact (jaja), remember the following: 1) When you try on stuff in public, you are awaking the need for that garment. Think of it as becoming a human mannequin. If you're not sure of your size, take all the possible scenarios with you, or when you go back to get some, there won't be any. 2) If you really aren't sure or don't need something, leave it. Don't stick around with it just 'cause the bitch next to you wants it. If you feel an inexplicable need, it's probably because you're being a victim of the Effect. 3) Be nice. Help a sister out if she needs it. Remember, shopping-karma's a bitch. 4) Do not follow around someone because she has the last item you suddenly want. That's plain old STALKING. And that's it. Wow, I really overdid it today, sorry! But hey, it's a fun subject!
