Boot Camp

I'm an Air Force brat. Growing up under a military environment made me very strict and punctual. Annoyingly punctual, actually. It affected my upbringing very much and I'm thankful for it. I wanted to marry Maverick in "Top Gun" and loved the idea of being myself a fighter pilot. So it's no surprise that I went right for this real camouflage uniform when I saw it on a thrift store on Brick Lane during my last trip to London. It belonged to a rather petite sergeant, judging by the size of it. This is a  look that's very dear to my heart, since it reminds me of the man of my life, my wonderful father, who is my pillar and the person I admire the most. I remember watching him with his perfect uniform, standing tall and proud, and just wanting to be at least half the person he was. I miss him every day.

Hope you like the result of my madness.

Used sneakers and bad drivers

I'm a really bad driver. Terrible, actually. I'm impatient, I do not follow rules and I love to speed. Not a good combination. That's why I decided not to renew my license here in Spain, since trust me, I could never survive with so many rules and signs and lines and... just basic manners and courtesy. The only thing that would make me change my mind is getting a Mini. I have a thing for that car, I think they're ever so cute! So it was impossible to resist myself when I saw this nice old green Mini parked right next to where I was taking the pictures. I had fun taking "sleezy girl meets car wash" pictures, which of course I will not post.

Remember how I told you I went to Brick Lane and had a blast? Well, one of my favorite things that I got are these pair of used sneakers - not vintage, nowadays the word is used too lightly - which, luckily, were just the right size. Now, normally I wouldn't go for sneakers on a thrift store, but these I thought were special. After washing them and making sure they were not hazardous to my feet's health, it turns out I managed to keep the previous owner's message passed down to me: "'Sup!", which is written on the soles of the sneakers. Such a wise, profound and meaningful message should stay forever and ever and be shared with all mankind.

Happy Friday!

Me encantan, ¡me parecen tan bonitos!

(abreviatura de "What's up!").

Oh my Jubilee!

We went to a really cool party on a garden square, unfortunately it was pouring and the festivities were a little ruined. However, it was amazing to see people dress up as old chaps. I actually used the clothes I had to make up something along the way and I was very much within character! Funny, me and my crazy stuff. It was really cold but you can always get warmer with Pimms, a huge burger and cake.

Choosing what to wear was a nightmare since weather was so unpredictable. And I didn't go shopping the first few days because I promised to stay out of the stores. Hell yeah, we all knew that wasn't gonna happen. East London, Brick Lane and WHAM. Also, on my last day I went to Oxford Street for a mandatory Primark stop, where I behaved a lot. But then I went to Forever 21, thinking that given it's been a long time since I was 21 I could feel safe. Big mistake. It turns out that they have a space inspired by a Thrift Shop (blame it on the Florence Welch phenomenon), to appeal a different crowd and have more "adult" pieces. Let's just say that I went crazy and will bore you a bit with this brand this summer. It was such a refreshing and great surprise. Unfortunately, after this, it was unthinkable to my personal finances to even set a foot on TopShop. Or anywhere else.

I'm glad to be back for delicious summer days, although I miss my siblings terribly. I promise to get some time to update this week, it has been a nightmare of work, emails and errands, but I'll get back on my feet soon. Also I know I have a lot of comments to answer, will get on it. Kisses

Besitos.
