Rollercoaster

Women, or at least most I know, are an emotional rollercoaster ride. Depending on several factors, such as hormones, impatience and hair color (personal theory), the ride can be fun or the scariest experience of your life. I consider myself to be amongst the latter, unfortunately. So, hop on. If you dare.

Las mujeres, o al menos la mayoría que conozco, somos una montaña rusa emocional. Dependemos de varios factores como las hormonas, impaciencia y color del pelo (teoría personal). Puede ser un viaje divertido o la experiencia más escalofriante de tu vida. Por desgracia, considero que estoy más cerca de lo segundo. Vamos arriba, a ver quién se atreve.

Strawberry milk

Growing up I wasn't fond of chocolate milk, which forced my parents to get an alternative: Strawberry Quik. Yup, that existed. But it wasn't that easy to find in my country during the 80s. So whenever my dad went on a trip to the States, he brought a bunch of them to get his annoying older daughter drinking her milk. Years later, I got to thinking, although it's true that strawberry is my favorite fruit, what if I just wanted to turn my milk pink? Just for the hell of it. Yeah, my mind could have just been that twisted.

At this rate I'm gonna get offered a part in Alice in Wonderlad as - you guessed it - the Mad Hatter. Another hat! More patters! Yummy. 

Cuando era pequeña no me gustaba la leche con chocolate, con lo cual mis padres tuvieron que buscar una alternativa: Quik de fresa. Oh sí, eso existía. Pero no era tan fácil de encontrar en mi país en los 80s. Así que cuando mi padre viaja a Estados Unidos tenía que llenar la maleta para que su insoportable hija mayor se tomara la leche. Con los años, me empecé a preguntar, a pesar de que la fresa es mi fruta favorita, si lo mío era más bien una obsesión por hacer la leche rosa. Puro antojo y diversión. Sí, mi mente podría haber sido tan retorcida a mi corta edad. 

A este ritmo me van a ofrecer un papel en Alicia en el País de las Maravillas como - adivinaron - el Sombrerero Loco. ¡Otro más! Y más estampados clásicos. Yummy.

Closet Conspiracy Theories

Ok, I know I can be paranoid. But... don't you feel sometimes as if all your clothes are conspiring against you? Whispering, sometimes yelling. "No, woman, no sartorial satisfaction today. We are your clothes, we command you. What? What's that? Yes, you're right, you have nothing to wear. BTW, we are totally vetoing that horrible jacket you got last month. What where you thinking?!" They band together, nothing you can do about it. Browsing doesn't help: just a pile of shit. Crap. Plain. Won't work. Arg. What do you do? When taken hostage by your possessions, you stick to what you wore yesterday. And last weekend. And the friday before that. Poor penny loafers. Dearest ochre twenty-buck-blazer. Thank you for your support.

Ya sé que puedo ser paranoica, pero... ¿no parece a veces que todo el armario conspira en tu contra? Susurrando, a veces gritando. "No, chica, cero satisfacción textil para hoy. Somos tu ropa, te gobernamos. ¿Qué? ¿Qué dices? Cierto, no tienes nada que ponerte. Y por cierto, vamos a vetar a esa chaqueta tan horrenda que compraste hace un mes. ¿En qué estabas pensando?!" Se unen, aliadas en una misma causa, sin nada que puedas hacer. Te pones a bucear, lo cual solo empeora la situación. Pila de porquería. Sin gracia. Aburrida. No funciona. ¡Argg!! ¿Y entonces qué haces? Cuando tus posesiones se apoderan de ti y te vuelves su rehén, busca inspiración en lo que usaste el día anterior. Y el finde. Y el viernes antes del finde. Pobres mocasines. Adorado blazer ocre de dos duros pescado en las rebajas. Gracias, muchas gracias por el apoyo.

Up and running

Jackpot! Finally got my beloved, old and slow Balthazar (that is, my laptop) back and running smoothly. Well, sort of. That means bad news for my fellow neighbors who will have to hear my constant typing mixed with reruns of cheesy RomComs whilst the football debate is also on the background. Perfect scenario for my overnight ramblings. For some, a motive for suicide or murder. For me, paradise. 

And so, let's get this bitch up and running. I'm sorry for the lack of response to all of your lovely comments. I thank those who still take time to speak their mind despite my radio silence. You are wonderful, supportive readers. How do you put up with me? Seriously. 

BTW, I'm an aunt! Those of you who follow my Instagram know the details and have seen the object of my affection. I'm going back on Wednesday to see her. What can I say, totally hooked! Will keep you posted. And well, as for today's look: I finally got a chance to wear my summer sales steal: and yes, you guessed it. More plaid.

¡Por fin! He recuperado a mi adorado, lento y viejo Balthazar (es decir, mi portátil). Bueno, a medias. Esto es una mala noticia para mis pobres vecinos que tendrán que empezar de nuevo con mi tecleo nocturno mezclado con repeticiones de comedias románticas, y aderezados con un fondo de tertulias deportivas. El escenario perfecto para mi desvarío bloggeril. Para algunos, un posible motivo de suicidio o asesinato. Para mí, el paraíso. 

Y bien, vamos a poner esta vaina en orden. Ante todo, lamento la falta de respuesta a los comentarios que me han dejado aquellos tan fieles en esta época de sequía. Son ustedes unos lectores tan magníficos, mil gracias por el apoyo. Ni yo se como me aguantan. En serio.

Por cierto, ¡soy tía! Los que me siguen en Instagram saben los detalles y habrán visto fotos de mi Pichiflú. Me regreso a Londres el miércoles a verle. Para que negarlo, se me cae la baba. Ya daré noticias. Y para terminar con el look de hoy: por fin pude estrenar la ganga rebajil del verano: y sí, se trata de más cuadros.
