Daisy, Daisy

Yes, I know. Daisy Duke. Argg. The Prada-inspired cheap crop top from Primark... no words. The only way I would wear this trend is like this. So no blabber today, I'm so tired. I'll sell my soul for a day at the beach. Any offers?

Ya lo se, Daisy Duke. Arggg.

For those who think young

Sometimes you don't even realize that you've already embraced a trend a while back and certain little treasures serve you as a reminder. I bought this skirt on my first visit to Primark in London years ago, and I liked it because it was shaped sort of like a tulip, my favorite flower. Now I know that it's not a tulip, it's "peplum" which was a killer trend on summer and will remain for autumn/winter. I crack myself up sometimes with the imagination of people in fashion and the sometimes pretentiousness behind it, sure, "peplum", "oxblood". To me it's tulip, but dare I say that instead of "peplum". Oh, the nerve

Like I mentioned on my previous peplum post HERE, I think this is a very ladylike trend so I like to tone it down a bit. And nothing tones something down like a retro Pepsi t-shirt. For those who think young (wink).

Peplum me, please

Shopping's a competitive sport. And yesterday were the Olympics. You might say that I was a medalist, but not gold. Not yet, at least. Now, instead of a sport it becomes a treasure hunting experience, where the only object is to find the cheapest articles so you can brag about it. What a Sunday, I hardly had energy to celebrate the win (Eurocup Champions, baby!) but my inner football freak took over and helped me get through it.

I didn't think I was going to hit the peplum trend. Well, turns out I like it. It's more flattering than I thought and you can tone it down more informal pieces, like cut-out shorts. I still have to do a little tweaking on these ones, found at the same place where I got the crazy converse on Brick Lane. I'm so gonna hurt them, I'll soon be showing the results. Happy monday.

Feliz lunes.

Polka dots and rush

No, it's not your eyes. My pants are wrinkled from having my butt against a chair thanks to my own ungraceful art of sitting. I ran out of work for 5 minutes to take these pictures, if I don't do it this way I might never get to update. And as a permanent victim of Murphy's law I take no chances when there's a window of opportunity: run, Forrest, run! Oh well, it makes things more real, right? Yeah, whatever helps me sleep at night.

This is an unusual look for me. I can't figure out if I like it because it reminds me of my pjs or just because of it's little retro vibe with a hint of corniness. Either or, here it is. No fuzz. As I write this post, stores keep marking down the prices on their lovely treasures. Don't know if I'll have time to pull a bank job. Crap.

Menace on the sidewalk

One of my biggest pet peeves are slow walkers. It drives me insane when people move at their own turtle pace and won't let you through. The only thing I hate more than slow walkers on a sidewalk are "group walkers", or those who hang out taking up the whole space. And if you really want me to despise you, be a couple holding hands stretching from one end to the other. Oh yeah, and the elderly who should not be walking unsupervised. And careless smokers who burn anyone who gets by... So, basically, I hate everyone that's in my way. Please, nothing between me and the goal line, I beg. Such a horrible person, I know. Back home I never walked, and it was blessing for those that surrounded me, 'cause it turns out I'm a cranky menace.

When do I cut people some slack? Maybe when I'm wearing heels. I don't want to ruin them, so I'll be more careful, thus, more patient. But NEVER under any circumstances do I become a slow walker. Love thy neighbor above all. These sandals fall under the category, they make a patient pedestrian. It's too bad that I couldn't get better pics for this outfit, the shorts are really cute in my opinion and the whole thing worked well together, but I've just been so busy that lately I can barely get out of work and get a decent shot with whatever I've got handy.

Happy Friday!

¡Feliz viernes!

Finders, keepers

Primark in Spain is almost an urban legend to me. Why do I say this? Because even though I see a lot of other people who find wonderful stuff, I hardly ever seem to catch a break. I've been to a few stores in Madrid and never left completely satisfied. A total difference with the one in London, that time my poor arms could barely carry all the bags. But.. finders, keepers! I got my hands on this skirt that I happen to love. Could my luck be changing?

He estado en varias tiendas de Madrid y nunca me he ido realmente satisfecha.

Mastering the art of the kimono

A very simple and casual ensemble. A kimono jacket from last summer that I absolutely love because of its color and fabric. It fights head to head with the shoes for the spotlight on the whole look, but I think it manages to outshine a bit.

I never used to wear flats because i HATE my feet. I do, really. And honestly, it's not only because they're ugly to me. Oh no. It's because they're flat. Unusually flat, actually. No ant is safe around me and no shoe maintains its original form. So in the past I would never buy anything without some sort of heel. I mean, ballerina, what's that, other than a dancer? That was until I came to live in Madrid and the commuting began. My first year, I held it together like a champ, wearing heels almost everyday to business school (and makeup too). Of course, I'm latin, it was my duty. But by my second year, my back started to give out. And so began my exploration of the art of walking comfortably, which started to grow on me very slowly. My first step was "double-shoeing" my looks: taking my heels on a bag and wearing flats for walking. Then it took a life of its own. I am now the proud owner of several pairs of flats, and I don't even mind how awkward they look on my feet. But I'm not gonna lie, one misses the fresh air "up there" sometimes, so I make sure that they are cool and unique, like these pair, to compensate for what I give up. And if they can have a double purpose, in this case a lethal weapon, even better.

Happy Friday!

¡Feliz viernes!
