30 never?

I like flashbacks and classics. And a classic for spring is the dress, denim jacket and boots combo. To me, it hits a very 90s note in my memory. It's fresh, comfy and very young. Almost like a 30 never effort. And this dress that I absolutely adore helps create that illusion.

It's finally Friday, I can't be happier, let's hope that I can get an exorcism of this crappy week. I was so excited about Saturday, planning to get my yellow post winter skin some sunlight, but apparently weather will not agree with me, as usual. Murphy's law. That's just my luck on this week from absolute hell. But... Sunday cannot possibly go wrong since my amazing Babaloo is treating me to Coldplay. So bring it, I can handle more crap next week after some Chris Martin.

Finders, keepers

Primark in Spain is almost an urban legend to me. Why do I say this? Because even though I see a lot of other people who find wonderful stuff, I hardly ever seem to catch a break. I've been to a few stores in Madrid and never left completely satisfied. A total difference with the one in London, that time my poor arms could barely carry all the bags. But.. finders, keepers! I got my hands on this skirt that I happen to love. Could my luck be changing?

He estado en varias tiendas de Madrid y nunca me he ido realmente satisfecha.

It's all in the details

There are some things that just win you over with the smallest details that make them unique. It doesn't matter how many garments you own that are similar, or that you're broke, or that you promised to contain yourself. They just have that power. Very few words today, weird for me, but I'm having the strangest Monday. Hope that's not the case for any of you. Kisses.

Besitos.

Low Cost Beachwear

Yes, people, it is that time of the year, no turning back. We look for an express diet on the internet, find a way to improve our current pale skin (stay away from UV rays, I beg you), double our gym sessions, look in the mirror a thousand times and face the sometimes scary reality: it is time to put on a swimsuit. And as always, we take out last year's swimwear, stare at it and realize that we want something new and hey, who says we don't deserve it after all that effort? And then you remember that most of the world is in deep recession, unemployment is at its peak and, oh crap, your credit card is almost maxed out. But... do not despair, my friends. Out favorite highstreet stores are here to save us. And some of them offer you bikinis cheaper than a hamburger combo.

H&M is always a lifesaver. It offers you bikinis for less than 10 bucks. I mean really, some are that cheap. And I thought that they wouldn't last the whole summer - and for the price I honestly didn't mind - but I was proved me wrong. I still have bikinis from two summers ago. Now, you can't expect that they'll all be cute and flattering, but you can certainly find a few that are really nice. On the other hand, Zara, being the crown jewel of its emporium, always offers very cute and classic swimwear. Usually they are priced at 25€, no more. Finally, Topshop, slightly pricier but still within reasonable limits, has great quality and offers a few retro and pin up styled bikinis that are simply adorable. Now, you might be wondering, especially if you live in Spain, why did I leave out Blanco and their large selection of cheap bikinis. I'm not gonna lie, I've bought a couple them and as with H&M I've been surprised by their durability, but I'm sort of boycotting them this year for ALWAYS making the same type of top: the bandeau. Don't they realize that sometimes girls need more "support"? Other brands such as Primark, Oysho, Warehouse, Women's Secret (I've had the worst experience with this one) also offer fairly priced swimwear. What's missing in almost all of them is one piece suits, those hard to find.

Mastering the art of the kimono

A very simple and casual ensemble. A kimono jacket from last summer that I absolutely love because of its color and fabric. It fights head to head with the shoes for the spotlight on the whole look, but I think it manages to outshine a bit.

I never used to wear flats because i HATE my feet. I do, really. And honestly, it's not only because they're ugly to me. Oh no. It's because they're flat. Unusually flat, actually. No ant is safe around me and no shoe maintains its original form. So in the past I would never buy anything without some sort of heel. I mean, ballerina, what's that, other than a dancer? That was until I came to live in Madrid and the commuting began. My first year, I held it together like a champ, wearing heels almost everyday to business school (and makeup too). Of course, I'm latin, it was my duty. But by my second year, my back started to give out. And so began my exploration of the art of walking comfortably, which started to grow on me very slowly. My first step was "double-shoeing" my looks: taking my heels on a bag and wearing flats for walking. Then it took a life of its own. I am now the proud owner of several pairs of flats, and I don't even mind how awkward they look on my feet. But I'm not gonna lie, one misses the fresh air "up there" sometimes, so I make sure that they are cool and unique, like these pair, to compensate for what I give up. And if they can have a double purpose, in this case a lethal weapon, even better.

Happy Friday!

¡Feliz viernes!

The Coming of Spring

The Coming of Spring

Could this be true? Is it finally here? I know it was supposed to be weeks ago, but we all know that didn't happen. Let's hope. I for one plan on going barelegged all week, yay!

¿Será que ya por fin? ¿Primavera? Yay.
