Precious Knitwear

Sometimes the gods of sales can be cruel and tortuous. You find great stuff but never in your size, or those perfect boots happen to be tighter than normal, or maybe you just don't like anything in the store. But on other very rare but plausible occasions, the gods of sales give a break the equivalent of sacrificing a virgin for you. For me, it was finding high quality knitwear at ridiculous prices: cashmere, angora, merino wool... you name it. This was my reward after paying full price at the beginning of the season. Because that is the dream. That type of knitwear that you can literally live in. An investment for the future. Christ, I'm starting to sound like a politician.

This bat-shaped poncho/jumper is an example. Too bad I couldn't get my hands on it's cashmere-perfection twin brother, but this is a good-second place finish. Who am I to complain? Happy monday.

Algunas veces los dioses de las rebajas pueden ser crueles y torturadores. Como cuando encuentras cosas geniales pero nunca en tu talla, o esos botines perfectos tienen una horma incómoda, o sencillamente no te gusta nada de lo que te encuentras. Sin embargo, en otras muy raras pero posibles ocasiones, los dioses rebajiles hacen lo impensable, algo así como el equivalente de un sacrificio virginal, todo por y para ti. En este caso se manifestaron en prendas con tejidos ideales: cashmere, angora, seda, lana... ya te digo, la perfección. Lo vi como una recompensa después de comprar cashmere a principios de temporada con la ruina que ello implica. Porque ese es el paraíso soñado: tejidos en los que podrías vivir el resto de tus días. Una inversión para el futuro. Por Dios, empiezo a sonar cual política. 

Este jersey/poncho es uno de los ejemplos. Aunque hubiese preferido atrapar a su gemelo de cashmere, no está mal para un segundo lugar. Anda que no, cero quejas. ¡Feliz lunes!

Scarf! Fridge!

I got this scarf to stop spitting so much fiber by washing it in cold water and then - I read somewhere - placing it in a plastic bag inside the fridge. Needless to say I forgot I had it there, and confused it an entire week for some sort of food. You guessed it, I hardly cook anything lately. Question is... did it work? Kind of. The lengths I'll go for a checked scarf. 

I just realized I'm wearing this scarf in such a weird way. Happy weekend!

He intentado evitar que esta bufanda escupa tanta pelusa lavándola en agua fría y luego - según leí en algún sitio - poniéndola en una bolsa dentro del congelador. Pues no hace falta que diga que me olvidé de ella y duró allí más de una semana, mientras yo la confundía con algo de comer. Está claro que apenas cocino en estos últimos días. Y la pregunta del millón... ¿funcionó? Algo ha mejorado, sigo haciendo pruebas. Las cosas que hacemos por una bufanda de cuadros. 

Vaya vueltas más raras que le he dado a la bufanda, me acabo de dar cuenta. ¡Feliz finde!

Mambo No. 5

I was going through an existential crisis the other day: whatever happened to Lou Bega? Did he manage to get Monica, Erica, Rita and all the women he was singing about? Is he getting paid royalties for the use of his famous song as torture for war enemies? Hell, Wikipedia says that Lou is GERMAN. Didn't see that one coming.

El otro día tenía una duda existencial: ¿Qué fue de Lou Bega? ¿Ha logrado conseguir a Mónica, Erica, Rita y todas las mujeres por las que cantaba? ¿Le estarán pagando por usar su canción como tortura contra enemigos de guerra? Dice Wikipedia que Lou es ALEMÁN. Vaya, esa no la veía venir.

Changes

I know my updating and rambling very sporadic lately, but I'm currently on a huge phase of changes that leave me no time or mental energy whatsoever. Promise that as soon as I'm done I'll try to get back to those usual ways where you wanted to get me a dose of lithium. For now, I leave you with old and new favorites. And my Rudolph nose.

Sé que mis actualizaciones y diarrea verbal están siendo muy esporádicas últimamente, pero estoy en un proceso de cambios que apenas me deja tiempo o energía mental. Prometo que una vez haya resuelto eso volveré a aquellas andanzas que hacían que más de uno quisiera darme una dosis de litio. Por ahora les dejo con viejos y nuevos favoritos.

Speedy fingers

It's here... that excruciating moment. Zara sales. Your fingers and bandwidth have to be faster for the online midnight kick-off. So, if you'll excuse me, I'll go re-check my paypal stats and practice my browsing abilities.

Ha llegado el momento crucial. Las rebajas de Zara. Tus dedos y ancho de banda deben ser los más rápidos para el pistolazo inicial a medianoche. Así que a revisar la cuenta de paypal y practicar el "browsing".
