Winter Wedding

A quick post to show you the look from the wedding last weekend. I never know what to wear on winter weddings, but thanks to this cool turban, borrowed from a great friend, I managed to stay warm. I felt like a mix between Cruella and a fortune teller, all that was missing was the crystal ball. Those of you who follow me on Instagram probably saw it already. Una entrada rápida para mostrarles mi look de la boda a la que asistí el finde pasado. Nunca sé que ponerme en las bodas de invierno, así que gracias a este turbante tan genial que me dejó una gran amiga pude combatir el frío. Me sentía como una mezcla entre Cruella y una adivina, sin la bola de cristal. Los que me siguen por Instagram seguro les resulta familiar. Lamento la calidad de las fotos. ¡Besitos y feliz finde!

Giant fingers

It turns out I'm off Blackberry for good. I got an Iphone, whom I've lovingly named Oscar, after battling for days between Android and the little Apple. When in doubt, people say that once you go Mac, you never go back, so I went for it. Thing is, it's bitchslapping me. So far, Oscar 1, Mel 0. My hands, which are actually really teeny tiny and with funny short fingers feel like those of a giant. I find myself screaming "son of a bit&$#@!" almost every hour since I can't get the spelling right. And don't even get me started on functionality, that's a whole other story. I think I finally understand how my mother feels around the computer. I'll be more sympathetic next time, MarmeePooh, promise. 

Who says you can't wear black in Summer? I myself love it. It's just so versatile. This dress, so fresh, like walking around on your pjs.

Resulta que dejo por fin Blackberry para siempre. Tengo ahora un Iphone, al cual he llamado Oscar, luego de una dura batalla para decidir si me iba por Android o la manzanita. Pero bueno, se dice que cuando se empieza con Mac nunca se cambia, así que a ver que tal. La cosa es que me está dando una paliza. De momento, Oscar 1, Melina 0. Mis manos, que son bastante pequeñas y con dedos muy cortos, se sienten como las de un gigante. Me paso el día gritando "hijoep%&#!!" constantemente ya que me cuesta escribir bien. Y de la funcionalidad ni hablo, eso es otra historia. Puedo por fin decir que entiendo como se siente mi madre con nuestra computadora. Seré más comprensiva la próxima vez, MarmeePooh, lo prometo. 

¿Quien dijo que no se podía usar negro en verano? A mi en lo particular me gusta mucho. Es tan versátil. Este vestido, tan fresco, como andar en pijama. 

Por cierto, como ahora tengo Iphone, me he metido algo tan adictivo como el crack: Instagram. Pueden encontrarme como Mostlymelina (que original).

The Parrot

I have a lot of affection for this parrot pendant, so be warned that I will probably bore you to death by wearing it on many looks. It was a gift from my Cookie, a dear friend that abandoned me to go be a trophy wife. ¡Oh, the nerve! jaja, just kidding, the bi-atch has the perfect life now and although I miss her terribly, I'm happy for everything (sort of). What inspired her to get me this precise shape? Well, one of my many nicknames is Parrot. It all came from an episode of Modern Family, a popular TV show, in which Sofia Vergara's character is mistaken for a parrot by a neighbor because of her loud, high-pitched voice. Yup, you guessed it, the correlation was immediate. It didn't help that I used to purposely make macaw and rooster noises to call my friends when it was crowded or to reply with happiness over good news. What's scarier is that in a recent trip to Guatemala, I was amongst a bunch of macaws and they would eerily respond to my voice. Be afraid. 

Back to my look. I love putting stuff on my head. One of the many shapes I love to give scarves is of bandeau or turban. Great for bad hair days. These pictures were taken a while ago, on a comfy day, and nothing screams relaxation more than my beloved shorts. To me these ones are specially cute since their purposely showing pockets are sort of lace or crochet. Stupid me didn't get a closer pic to appreciate the details . Next time, promise. Tengo mucho cariño a este colgante de pájaro, así que advierto que igual aburro a muerte incluyéndolo en mis looks. Fue un regalo de mi Cookie, una amiga muy querida que me abandonó para ser mujer florero. ¡Que morro! jaja, es broma, la muy suertuda tiene la vida perfecta y aunque la extraño miles, estoy feliz por ella (a mi manera). Y se preguntarán, ¿por qué este bicho? Pues... uno de mis apodos es parrot. Todo viene por un episodio de Modern Family donde al personaje de Sofía Vergara le confunde un vecino con un pájaro por su voz tan aguda e intensa. Y por supuesto, correlación inmediata. No jugó a mi favor que suelo hacer deliberadamente ruidos de guacamayos y gallos para conseguir la atención de mis amigas o para celebrar una buena noticia. Más aún, en mi viaje a Guatemala estaba en medio de un montón de guacamayos y su emoción y extraña receptividad a mi voz era muy rara. Hay testigos. Miedo me da.

Volviendo al look. Como me gusta ponerme cosas en la cabeza, que locura. Una de las formas que más suelo darle a los pañuelos es de bandó o de turbante. Genial para cuando el pelo no coopera. Estas fotos son de hace unos días, en una tarde vaga. Nada más relajante que uno de mis amados shorts. Estos para mi son especialmente monos ya que los bolsillos que se ven a propósito son como de encaje o crochet. Y soy tan torpe que no saqué una foto más cerca para ver el detalle. Para la próxima, prometido. ¡Que tengan buen finde!
