I've always wanted to be a twin. The sole purpose? To have HER try on the clothes - a task I despise - and see if it fits us. How cool would it be to have a doppelganger hanging around? Double Trouble. If she were anything like me, I'm sure that my parents would've been the biggest consumers of earplugs on planet Earth. And Valium. I happen to know the coolest, funniest twins ever. My Marie and my Mela have been my friends for over six years now. We are forever united with a bond over tequila, bad relationships and watermelon liquor. I love the fact that at first I couldn't tell them apart, but as a few weeks went by they looked nothing alike in my eyes. The magic of twins. Maybe I have a doppelganger somewhere in the world and we will meet the most random way. I hope it's during sales.

Siempre quise tener una gemela. En realidad, con un fin algo malévolo: que me sirva para probarse la ropa en las tiendas, que es algo que detesto hacer. ¿No sería genial tener un doble andando por ahí? Si mi gemela fuese como yo, seguro que mis pobres padres serían los mayores consumidores de tapones de oídos de todo el planeta. Y de Valium. Pues bien, resulta que yo conozco las gemelas más chistosas y cool de todos los tiempos. Mi Marie y mi Mela, mis amigas por poco más de seis años ya. Nos une un vínculo especial sellado con tequila, historias de chicos y "Chumir" Watermelon. Es genial que al principio era incapaz de distinguir la una de la otra, pero mientras más las trataba más distintas las veía. La maravilla de los gemelos. Igual y tengo algún doble andando por ahí y nos encontramos el día menos esperado. Eso sí, espero que coincida con las rebajas.

Waterproof Mascara

Baby Pich's Godmother

I'm so happy to share with you that my sister finally got knocked up which automatically makes me a future aunt and godmother. We will be welcoming a lovely ballerina into the family this summer, to be named Emilia, and luckily for me she will live in London and not all the way back home. As per standards and traditions, given that I nickname everyone and everything I adore, she's now to be known as my new Pichiflu, a.k.a. Baby Pich. And so it hit me: I have to start cleaning up my act to set a good example for my Pich, don't I? NOT. I look forward to being the cool, unmarried aunt who buys her beer and teaches her about boys. And the importance of blazers, like this white one that makes me pray I do not get it stained. My sister Bree and her husband Bil are probably thinking of a restraining order right now, but nothing's going to keep me apart from this little fruit of my loins. Ok, not my loins, but pretty close. Baby Pich, welcome to my world, you are now officially my favorite person.

Estoy feliz de compartir con ustedes que mi hermana por fin está "gestante" lo cual automáticamente me convierte en futura tía y madrina. Le daremos la bienvenida a nuestra pequeña bailarina que se llamará Emilia este verano, y para mi suerte vivirá en Londres y no en RD, así que la tendré relativamente cerca. Como es estándar y siguiendo la tradición de poner apodo a la gente y cosas que adoro, la he bautizado como mi nueva Pichiflú, cariñosamente Baby Pich. Y fue cuando pensé: Voy a ser madrina, tengo que organizar mi vida para dar ejemplo a mi Pich.... Eh, no. Me apetece ser su tía soltera cool que le compra cerveza y le enseña a ligar, además de la importancia de las blazers, como esta blanca que me encanta y a ver si no termino manchando, algo habitual en mi. Es muy probable que mi hermana Bree y mi cuñado Bil estén considerando seriamente una orden de alejamiento, pero será en vano: nada va a separarme del fruto de mis entrañas. Ok, no de las mías exactamente pero casi. Baby Pich, bienvenida a mi mundo, eres oficialmente mi persona favorita.

Globalization, ONU and Telenovelas

I'm a distinct, proud member of our own version of the United Nations. During my first couple of years in Madrid, I was lucky enough to fall into a wonderful group of girlfriends. Because we were all from different countries, people started calling us the "ONU", spanish initials for the UN. My guy friends would ask where the ONU was headed every night, since it was usually ten to fifteen girls from all over Latin America. We just bonded naturally, and although we had different cultures, there were also lots of elements that brought us together. A funny and unexpected one? We all watched most of the same "telenovelas" (soap operas) growing up and had major crushes on Luis Miguel. Playing those songs was an instant nostalgic and tequila-drinking moment. Because for us, telenovelas where more than a cheesy attempt to get girls to watch TV. They were a way of life with a huge impact on ours. Most of our knowledge of men we got from them (and Cosmopolitan magazine, of course). Because as latinas we embrace drama, love it, chase it even. The hopeful story of that poor, marginalized girl who meets the rich, handsome first-and-middle-named guy. The struggle to get together despite all the elements of the universe and some psycho jealous bitch conspiring otherwise. There will be car crashes, unwanted pregnancies, murder, slapping and kissing. Not to mention that our girl will end up rich, as she is the forbidden, illegitimate daughter of a wealthy man who dies on cue leaving her queen of the world. And finally, it wouldn't be a real telenovela without some sort of temporary blindness, disability or coma which will cure itself miraculously leaving the couple free to live happily ever after. What's not to like?

It's been a tough week with chillier temperatures and unpredictable behavior of the weather. Usually this makes me want to challenge and wear sandals. I need to buy some new Summer shoes, but I've browsed with no luck. As Bono sings, I still haven't found what I'm looking for. Happy Monday!

Soy miembro distintivo y orgulloso de nuestra propia versión de las Naciones Unidas. Durante mis primeros años en Madrid tuve la suerte de caer en un grupo increíble de amigas. Como veníamos de todas partes, nos empezaron a llamar la ONU. Mis amigos solían preguntar constantemente para dónde iba por las noches la "ONU", ya que usualmente eramos entre diez o quince chicas de casi todos los países latinoamericanos. Todas nos acoplamos de una manera natural, y a pesar de tener culturas distintas habían muchos elementos que nos unían. ¿Uno muy curioso pero significativo? Todas crecimos viendo las mismas telenovelas y nos enamoramos de Luis Miguel. Poner esas canciones creaba un momento nostálgico inmediato que solo se sedaba con tequila. Porque para nosotros, las telenovelas eran más que un intento cursi de buscar audiencia femenina en la televisión. Eran un estilo de vida con un gran impacto sobre la nuestra. La mayoría de nuestro conocimiento sobre chicos venía de ellas (junto con la revista Cosmopolitan, por supuesto). Porque al ser latinas aceptamos el drama como parte del día a día, nos gusta, incluso hasta llegamos a generarlo si no hay. La historia soñada de aquella chica pobre y marginada que conoce al "galán" rico, guapo y de nombre compuesto. Su lucha por estar juntos cuando el universo y una zorra envidiosa conspiran en su contra. Habrán celos, accidentes, embarazos no deseados, asesinatos y beso/cachetada. Sin olvidar que nuestra protagonista resultará la hija ilegítima y secreta de un multimillonario, que se morirá convenientemente dejándola heredera y reina del mundo. Y por último, no sería una telenovela de verdad sin algún incidente de ceguera, invalidez o coma temporal, que se curará milagrosamente permitiendo que los protagonistas se casen en una fastuosa boda y vivan felices para siempre. ¿Quien da más?

Ha sido una semana complicada con las temperaturas. Normalmente cuando pasa a estas alturas me revelo y uso sandalias. Necesito encontrar zapatos para el verano, pero he mirado y nada me llama. A ver si tengo más suerte en estos días. ¡Feliz lunes!

Deja Vu - Winter Favorites

This weekend I plan to defy nature and put away all of my winter clothes. With that in mind, I'm totally gonna borrow an idea from the lovely Mireia, the sweetest and coolest blogger from Spain, and do a section of different outfits with one garment. This got on my mind since some readers send questions about how to exploit or combine certain pieces, which is flattering but remember I know nothing and can be crazy (yikes). It might work given that I obsess with something and do not let it go until I saturate everyone or it just simply gives out, which has happened. Because let's face it, we do not have Olivia Palermo's closet. Hence, forever more, this segment shall be called Deja Vu.

There's no doubt that one of my favorite acquisitions for winter was this lovely Kimchi Blue oversized coat from Urban Outfitters. Warm, soft, perfect for colder days, with a color that to me, makes it the star. I loved it with boyfriend jeans (defying that you can't have "two boyfriends" at the same time) and combined it mostly simple, with blue or tartan. The eternal Zara scarves.

Este finde pretendo desafiar a la naturaleza y guardar toda mi ropa de invierno. Con eso en mente, me voy a robar descaradamente la idea de la linda Mireia, la blogger más cool y maja de España, y hacer una sección con diferentes looks y la misma prenda. Esto nace ya que algunas de las lectoras del blog ya me han enviado preguntas de como explotar al máximo algo o combinar ciertas prendas, lo cual agradezco, pero recuerdo que no tengo ni idea y tengo un gusto medio loco (oops). Aún así, puede que funcione por el simple hecho de que me suelo obsesionar con algo y no dejar de usarlo hasta que saturo a todo mi entorno o sencillamente la prenda da de si, que ha pasado. Pero qué se le va a hacer, no todas tenemos el armario de la Palermo. Y como tal, dejo inaugurada la sección, que de ahora en adelante se llamará Deja Vu.

Empezamos con una de las cosas que más saturaron el blog este invierno: el abrigo oversized de Kimchi Blue comprado en Urban Outfitters. Cálido, suave y perfecto para días más fríos con un color que, para mi, le hace la estrella del look. Me gustaba mucho usarlo con vaqueros estilo boyfriend (desafiando aquello de que no se pueden tener "dos novios" en el mismo look) y combinado de la forma más sencilla, con azul o tartán en la forma de aquellas famosas bufandas de Zara.

And if you've read me long enough you know that this blog is plagued with a tartan obsession. Well, these River Island pants are the epitome of my madness for this pattern. And don't think you won't see them next year over and over.

Y si vemos el blog desde hace tiempo, sabremos que está plagado de mi obsesión por el tartán. Pues estos pantalones de River Island son la personificación de este comportamiento. Y que nadie se crea que los guardaré el año que viene.

Finally, it wouldn't be complete with a homage to my beloved scarves. "You're crazy", they said. "They're all the same", they said. Well, I managed to get sick only once and at the same time literally wore the three amigos throughout all winter, scarf or cape. True story. The burgundy/blue you saw on the previous pictures.

Finalmente, un Deja Vu de invierno no estaría completo sin un homenaje a mis amadas bufanda/mantones zareras. "Estás loca", me decían. "Son todas iguales", me decían. Y bien, no solo evité tener más de una gripe en toda la temporada, sino que los "tres amigos" estuvieron literalmente plagando todos mis looks, como bufanda, capa, mantón o lo que sea. No miento. La burdeos/azul la vimos arriba.

Carey Mulligan for Vogue Magazine

Stunning, breathtaking, awesome, gorgeous, extraordinary... Words cannot express how much I like Carey Mulligan's shoot for Vogue Magazine. She embodies a lovely, fragile-but-deadly Daisy with sad eyes and haute couture. I'm anticipating this movie so much. If I had to pick a favorite one? The second to last, just love the colors and the details of the dress.

Do you like it as much as I do?

Hermosa, arrebatadora, perfecta, extraordinaria... los adjetivos no son suficientes para expresar lo mucho que me gusta Carey Mulligan en su sesión para Vogue Magazine. Está genial en su papel de una frágil pero peligrosa Daisy, de ojos tristes que se disfrazan con alta costura. ¡Estoy tan ansiosa de ver esta película! Si tuviera que elegir una foto favorita, seguro me quedo con la penúltima Me encantan los colores, su expresión y el detalle del vestido.

I know Kung Fu

I wish one could learn things like on The Matrix, remember? "I know Kung Fu". How cool it would be to say "I can ballet dance". I always wanted to be a ballerina. Float around, light as a feather, totally flexible and full of grace. Well, we can all agree that was never gonna happen, as I have the grace of an elephant.

I really like the patchwork of this shirt. What do you think?

Me gustaría que el aprendizaje fuese como en "The Matrix", ¿recuerdan? "Ya sé Kung Fu". Qué increíble sería de repente decir "¡Ya sé ballet!". Siempre quise bailar ballet. Flotar y dar saltos con mucha flexibilidad y gracia. Aunque tengo claro que nunca iba a pasar ya que tengo la gracia de un elefante.

I'm blue

I've mentioned it before. Growing up, I loved "Sleeping Beauty" and would watch it over and over. I actually ruined my tape (VHS, what an era) as it got tangled from excessive viewing and my parents had to buy a new one. There was special moment of interest for me and my sisters: The "make it pink, make it blue" scene. Me rooting for pink, obviously, and my sister Sabrina rooting for blue. We had our favorite colors pretty well established, and obviously being the eldest and her being the middle sister, we had to chose opposite positions. We argued forever which version of the dress made Aurora look better. It didn't fit my mind that anyone would chose blue over pink.

Well, years later, I finally caved and started liking blue. Particularly blue shirts. Boyish blue shirts. Striped, solid, you name it. Ironically, besides white, they are the most popular ones amongst my clothes. I love them with jeans and shorts. Perfectly casual. People can change their taste in colors, you see. However, green, do not get your hopes up. BTW, and I finally got my shoes! And don't you just love my new bracelets from Bolboreta?

Ya lo he contado antes. De pequeña, me encantaba "La Bella Durmiente" y no me cansaba de verla. De hecho, arruiné mi cinta (VHS, qué épocas) al enredarse de tanto ponerla y mis padres tuvieron que comprar una nueva. Había un momento en especial que nos gustaba: la escena del "que sea rosa/azul". Yo quería rosa, mi hermana Sabrina el azul. Cada una tenía sus colores favoritos muy bien definidos, y siendo yo la mayor y mi hermana la del medio, con toda la competitividad que eso conlleva, por supuesto que los elegimos totalmente opuestos. Discutíamos todo el tiempo de cual era la mejor versión de vestido para Aurora. Y a mi no me cabía en la cabeza que alguien eligiera azul sobre rosa.

Y bien, con el paso de los años me empezó a gustar el azul. Y mucho. En especial en camisas. Masculinas y clásicas, mejor. De rayas, lisas, como sea. Tanto que, irónicamente, después de mi colección de blancas, es el color que más tengo. Ideal para ir con vaqueros y shorts. Un estilo casual perfecto. Aparentemente podemos cambiar nuestros gustos en colores. Aunque yo no tendría esperanzas para el verde. Por cierto, por fin tengo ya los zapatos. ¿Y qué me dicen de mis nuevas pulseras, gracias a Bolboreta Complementos?

Babel

I like to think of myself as a citizen of nowhere and everywhere with a permanent placement on Neverland. It's how I feel, especially lately that I'm getting closer to a decade of not living in my hometown, Dominican Republic. Still, I get a lot of shit back home for any changes in my accent, my suppossedly new customs, how I dress and even my eating habits. It used to make me mad, as a firm believer that, without losing your essence, you need to adapt yourself to wherever you choose to set roots after a certain period of time, and that implies some unavoidable changes. Now, I let it go, but still find it slightly unfair. See, when I was younger, I was accused of being "too yankee". Having lived in the States (deep, profound South, actually) during several periods, I had a lot of American influence. Then I moved to Spain, and I am now officially "too Spanish" for some. And to top it off, for my friends who come from all over Latin America I can be "too Dominican" at times. I actually get asked to "turn off my native accent" by my Spanish to-be-determined male companion when he can't understand me (usually during a fight). It's my own personal Babel.

So there you have it. Ironically, I'm no longer "too yankee" since I hardly ever speak English around here, except with Babaloo. I can't use anglicisms or spanglish being that it is frowned upon. My Spanish is now a slight mix of typical words from Guatemala, Ecuador, El Salvador, Perú, Costa Rica... Hell, I can say "slut" in any of them. But my friends are my family abroad with whom I spend most of my time, it is bound to rub off. I hardly hear my native accent except when I speak to my family, but I interact with typical dominican phrases just to keep saying them 'cause I love them, even if no one gets it. I will never, under any circumstance, stop saying "vaina" although it pisses people off. I will always be loud - hence, my nickname Parrot. I can eat hot soups during even hotter temperatures. I will always be a proud dominican, but I'm also latin, american, spanish, taina, panchita, guatemalan-wannabe and above all, accepting of any culture that opens its arms to me and any custom that I like. Just because I can, I believe it makes me a better person. Because I'm not afraid of change, dammit.

¡First shorts of the season! What I lack in tanning I make up for in will.

Me gusta pensar que soy ciudadana de todas partes y de ninguna, con nacionalidad permanente en el país del Nunca Jamás. Así me siento, en especial ahora que estoy más cerca de la década de vivir lejos de mi país de origen, República Dominicana. Aún así, aguanto muchas vainas cuando estoy allá por los cambios en mi acento, mis supuestas nuevas costumbres, cómo visto y hasta mis hábitos alimenticios. Me solía molestar, siendo una firme creyente de que la gente puede y debe adaptarse, sin perder su esencia, al lugar donde decide echar raíces luego de un cierto tiempo, lo cual inevitablemente implica algún cambio. Hoy en día ya no me afecta tanto, aunque me sigue pareciendo injusto. Verán, cuando era joven, se me acusaba de ser "demasiado gringa". Había vivido en el sur profundo de Estados Unidos durante algunos períodos de mi vida, con lo cual tenía bastante influencia americana. Luego me mudé a España, convirtiéndome oficialmente en "demasiado española" para más de uno. Y para rematar, mis amigos que son de todas partes de Latinoamérica me encuentran "muy dominicana" por momentos. Incluso cuando tengo el "taíno revuelto" y me peleo con el pariente me suele pedir que apague el acento dominicano porque no me entiende. Es mi propio y muy personal Babel.

Así son las cosas. Irónicamente, ya no soy "demasiado gringa" dado que apenas hablo en inglés, excepto con Babaloo para no perder la práctica. No puedo usar anglicismos ni "spanglish" ya que aquí está mal visto. Mi castellano contiene una alta mezcla de palabras españolas, ecuatorianas, salvadoreñas, peruanas, costarricenses... De hecho, puedo decir "chopa" en cualquier versión (choni, chola, soncha, pola, grencha, shuma, trola...) Es que como decimos nosotros, "en el extranjero los amigos son la familia" y esta gente está conmigo siempre, es inevitable que nos contagiemos costumbres. Apenas escucho mi acento de origen excepto cuando hablo con mi familia, pero sigo usando frases típicas dominicanas porque me encantan, aunque nadie me las entienda. Nunca, bajo ninguna circunstancia, dejaré de usar la palabra vaina ni utilizaré la "zeta". Siempre seré escandalosa, de ahí mi apodo Parrot. Puedo y seguiré comiendo sancocho en pleno agosto a pesar del calor. Siempre seré una dominicana orgullosa de pura cepa, pero también seguiré siendo latina, americana, española, taína, panchita, aspirante a guatemalteca y sobre todo, alguien que acepta cualquier cultura que le abra los brazos y las costumbres que le gustan. Porque me da la gana, porque puedo y porque creo que me hace mejor persona. Que a mi no me asusta el cambio ni tengo complejo, carajo.

¡Mis primeros shorts de la temporada! Me falta bronceado pero me sobran ganas.

Have you noticed that lately I'm obsessed with my & Other Stories bag? And who could blame me. It's shaped like an ass. Or a nice cleavage. However you want to put it or look at it. It was baptized "the thong purse" by my friend Rick-o Shazam (one of my many nicknames for my friends, obviously). Boys have dirty minds, don't ya? Unlike mine, which is spotless and clean, incapable of impure thoughts. Hi mom!

¿Se han fijado que estoy obsesionada últimamente con mi bolso de & Other Stories? Y no se me puede reprochar. ¡Tiene forma de tanga! O de sostén, como se quiera ver. Fue bautizada como el "bolso tanga" por mi amigo Rick-o Shazam (uno de mis tantos apodos para mis amigos). Es que no se puede negar que los chicos tienen una mente perversa. No como la mía, que es limpia y pura, incapaz de pensamientos subidos de tono. ¡Hola mami!

Juro que la combinación de mi muy cursi funda de móvil con los pantalones es pura coincidencia.

Favorite spring looks

These six looks where, judging by comments in general, the favorites of last year's Spring. What I like so much about this season - if we get a few weeks of it which is highly unlikely - is that you can play around a lot with outwear and bear skin with atypical outfits. Let's see how it plays out this year.

Those crazy ombre jeans, where are they now? I just realized that I can't be trusted around white t-shirts. Nor cheesecake.

Lo que me gusta de esta estación - si es que no pasamos a verano directamente - es que se puede jugar mucho con prendas exteriores y combinaciones atípicas enseñando algo de piel. A ver que tal va este año.

2013: A Shoe Odyssey

A long, complicated story today. Maybe the gods are punishing me for attempting to own white heels. That's the conclusion I take from my own version of 2013: a Shoe Oddysey. I saw these shoes several weeks ago when they came out, and thought I could wait a while to buy them since it was really cold at the time. Turns out they were sold out online so I caved and got them at a store. However, being white (and obviously not the best quality) they had a few spots, so when they came back online I got another pair expecting them to be flawless, thus returning the previous pair. Seemed like a great idea at the time and I congratulated myself for being so savvy. Well, the plan backfired as I didn't notice that the shoes had a longer, deformed strap that was totally unflattering. I actually didn't realize this until we started taking these pictures and Calamity Red (Raquel, my lovely photographer) saw that the shoes would turn up funny. Shit. Having worn them only for a couple of hours I was so angry that I immediately went to my nearest Zara to get them exchanged. I must say that this is the first time something of the sort happens to me, and even though I didn't know what to expect, the least I hoped for was that someone would hear me out. Well, the person in charge was very uninterested, blamed it on my feet (something about asymetry) and poor judgement while she told me that since I had worn them they could not sell them like that. For starters, we ALL now that Zara shoes' soles are always dirty, and also I told her that no one in their right mind would buy them anyway since they are clearly defective and she should send them back.

Seeing that it was a lost cause, I politely thanked her and left feeling defeated, thinking that all those stories I've heard about people who exchange faulty products are an urban legend. However, I later was near Serrano so I talked to the girls there (who are always really nice to me) and then a very polite manager took a look at the shoes and immediately noticed the flaw. She tried to get me a new pair but they didn't have my size, so she suggested that I return them so I could try getting them online again. I was amazed at the fact that not only she was so nice to me, but also that she understood what the problem was: I didn't want my money, I wasn't trying to rip her off, the shoes were brand NEW, I just wanted a pair that wasn't faulty. Simple as that. Of course, you can understand that I was reticent to use the online shop again: I wanted to buy these suckers live and try them on. With that in mind, I went right away to another Zara where they told me that, luckily, they had only a single pair and they were just my size. Finally, a break! "They're sending them up on the elevator". Yay. We wait, wait some more, and the shoes are not there. They look, they call downstairs. Turns out some bitch took them. So now, I'm waiting for the new ones to arrive yet again, and trust me, thinking to myself the lenghts women will go when they get obssesed with crap. You can be sure that this time I will examine every inch.

Una historia muy larga y complicada para empezar la semana. No se, igual los dioses me castigan por intentar poseer zapatos blancos. Es a la conclusión a la que he llegado tras mi propia versión de "2013: una Odisea del Zapato". Vi estos tacones hace varias semanas cuando salieron a la venta y pensé que podía esperar un tiempo para comprarlos ya que aún el clima no acompañaba. Resulta que estaban agotados en la web así que terminé comprándolos en una tienda tan pronto los volví a encontrar. Pues al ser blancos (y no de la mejor calidad) tenían algunas manchitas, así que cuando salieron online unos días después, no lo dudé y me compré otro par - ya que esta mercancía suele llegar perfecta - con la idea de devolver los anteriores. Parecía una plan genial en el momento y me felicité a mi misma por ser tan lista. Pues, me salió mal la jugada ya que no me di cuenta que los recién adquiridos tenían un tiro defectuoso y deforme que les afeaba un montón. No fue hasta que Calamity Red (Raquel, mi linda fotógrafa) vio que éstos estaban raros en las fotos que caí en cuenta. Carajo. Apenas tenía un par de horas con ellos y mi cabreo fue tal que me acerqué al instante al Zara más cercano para que me los cambiaran por otro par. Debo decir que tengo mucha suerte con las cosas y que es la primera vez que algo así me sucede, y aunque no sabía qué esperar, buscaba al menos que me escucharan. La encargada me atendió con poco interés, culpó a mis pies de deformar la horma o insinuó que podía ser por asimetría y me dijo básicamente que tendría que haberme fijado mejor antes de estrenarlos. De hecho, intentó argumentar que como los había usado (cosa que se lo dije yo, aunque estaban NUEVOS) no los podía recolocar, mientras medía los tiros diciendo que estaban iguales. Para empezar, todos sabemos que las suelas en Zara están sucias y usadas en todos los zapatos de tienda y yo misma he comprado algunos en mucho peor estado que esos. Y para terminar, nadie en su sano juicio que se probara esos zapatos defectuosos los compraría, así que debía enviarlos a fábrica.

Viendo que era una causa perdida, me despedí educadamente y me fui sintiéndome derrotada, mientras pensaba que todas esas historias que he escuchado de gente que devuelve productos defectuosos no son más que leyendas urbanas. Sin embargo, luego estuve por Serrano y las chicas, que siempre son súper amables, me dijeron que hablara con la encargada. Muy cortés, vio los zapatos y en seguida se dio cuenta del defecto. Intentó buscarme un par nuevo, pero por mala suerte no había mi talla, así que me dijo que los devolviera y los comprara nuevamente online. Me sorprendió no solo que fuera tan amable y tan interesada en ayudar, pero sobre todo que ella entendió mi dilema: yo no quería mi dinero, ni quería engañarla devolviendo algo usado, los zapatos estaban NUEVOS, solo que defectuosos de fábrica, y quería otro par. Es todo. Por supuesto, como podrán entender, yo estaba reticente de comprarlos online nuevamente: quería probarme estos cabrones en vivo y directo y asegurarme que no había ningún problema. Así que me acerqué a otro Zara donde me dijeron que, para mi sorpresa, solo quedaban unos y justo en mi talla. ¡Por fin, algo de suerte! "Los están mandando en el ascensor". Yay. Esperamos. Luego esperamos un poco más. Llaman abajo. Y nada. Resulta que una zorra los pilló del ascensor antes que el dependiente. Así que al final no me quedo más remedio que pedir en la web OTRA VEZ los cojudos zapatos y esperar que me vuelvan a llegar, mientras pienso en lo obsesiva que podemos llegar a ser las mujeres con ciertas cosas. Eso sí, esta vez pienso revisarlos al milímetro.

I'm in desperate need of sunlight. Wearing this blazer I feel like part of the pantone. Yellow, ochre... terrible. I'm at that point where I can count my veins. That's never good. It makes me lose some mojo. This horrible coloring and being over thirty is a deadly combo. My girlfriends and I went to get ice from a bar. We were turned down. Need I say more? We took it pretty hard. What other cruel scenario is next, party gods?

Necesito desesperadamente algo de sol. Al usar esta chaqueta parezco parte del Pantone. Amarillo, ocre... terrible. Estoy en ese punto donde mis venas se pueden contar. Eso nunca es bueno. Me hace perder puntos. Este terrible color y superar la treintena son un combo asesino. Mis amigas y yo intentamos comprar hielo en un bar lleno de gente. No nos lo vendieron. ¿Necesito decir más? Nos sentimos heridas. ¿Qué otro escenario cruel tendrán para nosotros los dioses de la fiesta?

Weather girl

Weather's still cold and rainy, and I keep having spoonfuls of optimism just so I can wear my spring crap. Let's face it, it ain't gonna happen. Yes, I'm bitching about the weather again. Do you notice how this topic is universal for when you don't have anything to say? Especially in elevators. I myself turn into a sloppy weather girl when I'm stuck with my neighbors and expected to give polite chit chat.

"So cold, huh? There's a storm coming from the east, we can expect showers all week".

"Bummer" - is usually the reply of my also uncomfortable neighbor.

And then we go on and off about coats, colds and the sorts. Until there's no more polite conversation left. Awkward, uncomfortable silence. Damn you, sliding doors, taking forever to open. "Have a great day!". Of course, if it's a hot neighbor, you can add unusual sweating, forced, nervous smiles and epic fails of flirting, my favorite sport.

I'm wearing a yellow clutch on a grey day. Cuz that's just how I... roll? Happy monday.

El clima sigue siendo horrible y aunque me doy extra dosis de optimismo para poder estrenar mis trapos primaverales, no le veo fin al tema. Solo queda aceptarlo: de invierno a verano. Y sí, estoy quejándome del clima de nuevo. ¿No se fijan como este es el tema más usado cuando no sabes que decir? Sobre todo en ascensores. Yo me convierto en una torpe meteoróloga novata cuando me toca un vecino y hay que conversar por educación:

"Qué frío, no? Hay una tormenta entrando por el Este y parece que dejará lluvias toda la semana".

"Qué mal" - es la respuesta habitual de mi también incómodo vecino/a.

Y luego la conversación deriva en la pesadez de los abrigos, los resfriados y todo lo asociado al clima inestable. Hasta que no hay nada más que decir. Ese silencio incómodo mientras las puertas del ascensor se toman lo que parece un siglo para abrirse. "¡Que tenga un buen día!". Por supuesto, si el vecino en cuestión está bueno, a todo esto hay que agregarle calores inusuales, sonrisas nerviosas y claramente forzadas en un intento fallido de flirteo, mi deporte favorito.

Tengo un clutch amarillo en pleno día gris. Porque yo lo valgo. Feliz lunes!

You're gonna think I'm joking, but I sliced my middle finger during Easter break. Pretty bad, actually. I thought it would heal normally but apparently it needed a stitch, and now the grand-canyon-like wound won't close. And it's actually very painful to type. Well, just the use of the finger at all. What a spaz. Know that these few lines to tell you my story have cost me pain. Literally. I will not prolong it. Happy Thursday.

Van a pensar que es cuento, pero me corté el dedo medio durante Semana Santa... un tajo bastante feo, la verdad. Pensé que se pegaría solo, pero aparentemente le hacía falta algún punto y ahora tengo un bache a lo gran cañón que no se termina de cerrar. Por extensión, es bastante doloroso teclear (excepto en el Iphone). Los que me conocen lo saben: soy una torpe TORPE, con todo, no paro de pegarme o hacerme daño de la forma más tonta. En fin, solo comentar que estas pocas líneas me causaron sufrimiento. Literalmente. Y no lo seguiré prolongando. Feliz jueves.

And we have connection! I'm sorry for the lack of updates, but I was supposed to have internet access during Easter break. And as such I carried my laptop only to find out once there that I didn't. I just realized what a junkie I'm turning out to be. Moving around with my cell phone for a few bars only to catch a glimpse of my mails or Instagram. What did we do before smartphones, seriously? 'Cause I can hardly remember! Oh well, at least I "disconnected" for a while.

¡Conexión, al fin! Lamento la falda de actualizaciones y sin avisar, pero se suponía que iba a tener acceso a Internet durante Semana Santa. Total, que me he llevado el portátil para nada, porque al final no pude conectarme. Y esto me sirvió para darme cuenta que estoy hecha una adicta. Me la pasaba de un lado a otro con el móvil para encontrar alguna señal y poder ver un cachito del mail, de Instagram o por si me habían mandado un "guasá". Terrible. En serio, ¿Qué hacíamos antes de los smartphones? Porque no lo recuerdo. En fin, al menos "desconecté" unos días, nunca mejor dicho.

Metallic trend is back. With a twist. A mix between silver and holographic. Although I didn't exactly like Blumarine's approach with a total space-cadet-shiny holographic ensemble, accessories and little details do make this color attractive. What I wouldn't give for Stella McCartney's pouch, but I think I would have to settle for H&M or Stories. And of course, as soon as I win the lottery I'm aiming for the PS11. Have any of you gotten metallic-fever?

Y vuelve el metalizado. Con un ligero cambio. Una mezcla entre plata y holográfico. Aunque no me gusta el efecto total look espacial que planteó Blumarine, creo que esta gama de colores puede ser muy favorecedora en detalles y complementos. Qué no daría por el clutch de Stella McCartney, pero creo que tendría que conformarme con el de H&M o de Other Stories. Y por supuesto, tan pronto me gane el Euromillones mi objetivo es el PS11. ¿Alguno de ustedes se ha metalizado ya?
